Summary On a blizzard-swept night, detective Aoyama Kyōsuke and his associate arrive at W Station to find a grotesque scene: a man murdered by a bat-shaped pickaxe, then seemingly thrown from a passing locomotive. But the evidence defies logic: peculiar mineral fragments on the victim, an intricate blood trail stretching far beyond the initial discovery, and a second corpse, slain by a different weapon, found miles down the tracks. As Kyōsuke uncovers an ingenious, one-armed killer and a meticulously planned revenge, the stakes escalate. A 'mad locomotive' now hurtles uncrewed through the darkness, threatening catastrophic destruction. Can Kyōsuke decipher the killer's chilling motive and stop the runaway death machine before it's too late?
