Summary Tamiya Iemon, a masterless samurai shackled by poverty, yearns for a life of comfort and power. His path to fortune seemingly opens when he catches the eye of the wealthy Oume, but it demands a terrible price: the betrayal of his pregnant wife, Oiwa. A deceitful 'miracle cure' disfigures Oiwa's face, plunging Iemon into a calculated web of cruelty and manipulation. Yet, as he strives to escape his past and seize a new future, the world around him begins to warp. Whispers grow into chilling accusations, loved ones become terrifying specters, and the very fabric of reality unravels. Can Iemon outrun the monstrous consequences of his ambition, or will he forever be tormented by the vengeful echoes of his darkest deeds?
