Summary	A frail literary scholar, Makino Shinichi, gazes at distant mountains, lost in memories of a peculiar past. Seeking solace in Tatsumaki Village, he and his friends, Tsurumaki and Ginhara, craft an elaborate illusion: they are peerless warriors, revered by the villagers and adored by the captivating tavern girl, Meiko. Their days are filled with grandiose sword dances and bombastic poetry, their fragile self-delusion fueled by the villagers' awe. But this fantasy shatters when the cunning Taiju and Gorō expose their carefully constructed charade, stripping them of their pride, their fabricated power, and Meiko's affection. Humiliated and destitute, Shinichi returns to a desolate capital, wrestling with the true nature of his "warrior's journey." Can a man who only *dreams* of strength ever reclaim what he has lost, or will reality forever be his greatest adversary?
