| Summary | In the suffocating heat of Tokyo, an impoverished writer, abandoned by his wife and friends, finds his world collapsing around him. His only companions are his two young children, and their dilapidated home is about to be snatched away by the relentless eviction agent, Sanbyaku. With every door slamming shut and society's judgment echoing K's chilling pronouncements—that the poor are nothing but diseased patients to be eradicated—he spirals into a dizzying despair. As the deadline looms, he desperately scrambles for a new dwelling and the impossible sum of money needed, but each attempt is met with crushing indifference or outright hostility. Haunted by the fear of dragging his innocent children into his own ruin, he questions whether dignity or survival holds any meaning in a world so intent on seeing him fail.
